We have had our website redesigned
Website designer and drumming ace, Joe, has given the JPF Amplifiers a well deserved facelift. We now have a blog section which will be updated with tales of valve amp frolics and solid state shennanigans.

We now have Tayden Sonic Diffusers for 12″ speakers in stock at £20 each.
All loudspeakers emit higher frequencies in a beam, whereas lower frequencies are dispersed. This means that the sound from a guitar speaker changes in timbre depending on where you are standing. Directly in front of your amp the sound may be too bright (which is why guitar speakers are usually miced off axis); conversely to the side of your amp and the sound may be too dull.
The Tayden Sonic Diffuser is designed to disperse high frequencies so that your tone does not depend on where the listener is in relatiuon to the amp, and can easily be retro fitted to all amps with 12″ speakers.
Also if you want to try them out, we now have several cabinets loaded with Tayden guitar speakers.

We have now updated our price list with our new labour charges, and also with new prices for some spares/ valves.
As we will soon be starting to produce our own line of amplifiers — we have now ordered the metalwork and head shells — and due to an increase in amplifier repair work (seems like amps still go wrong despite the credit crunch), we are aiming to reduce our commitment to pedal and tape echo repairs.
Pedal and tape echo repairs are relatively time consuming, and we felt we were unable to charge for the full time taken for these repairs. Consequently, to keep the costs down (ie the cost of the repair was not greater than the value of the pedal) we tend to do repairs between larger jobs, resulting in quite long turn around times.
Thus we will soon be producing a list of effects pedals for which we will keep spares and will be able to turn around more quickly, however ofr more unusual or cheaper items we will operate a “waiting list” system.
We will soon be taking delivery of a batch of Tayden sonic diffusers, and will have some prototype Tayden G12-H style loudspeakers.
Our links page has also been updated.

Happy New Year!!
And now the bad news. Price increases.
We will be increasing our labour charges from 1st March. The new prices will be £35/hr and £20/half hour. This to reflect increases in our costs (rent, banking charges etc). However any work booked in before 1st March will be charged at our old rate. Additionally we will be reviewing our spares/ valve prices, as many of these have been affected by the precipitous decline in the value of the pound.

Sorry for the long delay in news updates, but due to a change in something to do with the internet (server I think) I lost the ability to update our site.
We now have the metal work and cabinets designed and ordered for our first production amp — it’s amazing how difficult it is to get anyone in England to manufacture anything for you. And then you wonder why we don’t make anything in the UK any more……… Hopefully we will have a production prototype in the shop in the next couple of months.
Our speaker development with the guys at Tayden continues a pace. We now have several speakers under test with good results, including 1.5″ voice coil American and British Alnico loudspeakers. We will provide more details once these go into production, however they won’t cost an arm and a leg. Tayden have also produced a sonic diffuser for 12″ speakers which we will be stocking in the new year. Treble frequencies leave the speaker as a beam, so you get a wide variation in tone depending on where you stand relative to your amp. The sonic diffuser causes the treble frequencies to be dispersed for more even tone. And is a more elegent solution than gaffer tape on the grille cloth a la SRV!
Oh, and we’ve been doing loads of repair work!
